Artistic Programme

A cornerstone event of Hong Kong Art Week, Art Central showcases the next generation of talent from Asia’s most innovative galleries alongside distinguished artists from around the world.

A premier platform for ambitious, large-scale installations and spatial interventions featuring sculpture, new media, moving image and creative technologies at the forefront of contemporary practice.

Long-standing Education Partner Asia Society Hong Kong Center returned in 2023 with an expanded programme featuring talks and video art.

Over the five-day run of the Fair, four performance artists delivered a series of intimate displays of movement thematically centred on displacement, personal discovery, and survival.

Art Central 2023 prominently featured internationally acclaimed Chinese artist Yang Yongliang’s Glows in the Night, on an impressively scaled LED installation of 18 metres, the largest-ever presentation of the artwork and largest presentation by the artist in Hong Kong.

Blue Throat: Start the Churning brought together sixteen artists from Hong Kong to examine and reinterpret the relationship between the individual and the collective, self and the contemporary world through the lens of art – here in the modern metropolis of Hong Kong.

Duk Dak, a common Cantonese phrase meaning “individually special”, features emerging and established talent through solo artist projects, presented by their representing galleries.
