Ho Sin Tung
Shadow Boxing, 2024
Art Central 2024 proudly presents its first-ever commissioned installation by a Hong Kong artist. Ho Sin Tung’s Shadow Boxing (2024) originates conceptually from the artist’s passion for martial arts and, critically, the discipline and self-awareness required mentally and physically to master the sport. The new work champions the Fair’s commitment to Hong Kong art and artists and celebrates the ingenuity of an acclaimed artist in her mid-career.
Born and based in Hong Kong, Ho Sin Tung graduated from the Fine Arts Department at Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2008. Ho’s artistic practice spans drawing, installation, video and writing, with the use of text and research as means to interpret individual experiences.
Ho participated in SeMA Mediacity Biennale Seoul (2014) and the 9th Shanghai Biennale (2012) and received the Hong Kong Arts Development Award for Young Artist and Hong Kong Contemporary Art Award in 2012. Her works are collected privately and publicly, including by M+ and Deutsche Bank, amongst others. The artist currently operates a gym-cultural space called Good Night which serves as a platform for interdisciplinary practice, leveraging the power of sports to train and empower practitioners as stronger individuals and communities.
