Hardworking Aesthetics

Six selected local artists represent diverse interests and unique perspectives around their surroundings in this exhibition. But what brings them together is their attention to the ordinary, the mundane. From their new works, they shed light on things that we often neglect, yet beautiful as they represent something deeper, almost hidden about the lives in Hong Kong. Through the artworks, we see the sensibility of the artists who give dignity to everyday labour. We can contemplate on the dedication of different professions such as school janitors, Shanghainese senior barbers, jade craftsmen, as well as Hong Kong’s humble, energetic, and “can-do” spirit.
